Skills: Fighting

So, you’ve read our basic combat guide, and you’re ready for something a little more advanced.  Remember, you get one skill point for every five levels you gain, and you’ll never have enough skill points to master every skill, so choose carefully!  This guide will give you all the info you need on new combat skills to help you become exactly the kind of vampire you’d like to be:

Just below you’ll see an example with information about how each of the skills will be formatted:

mortal_coil Skill Name (Level at which skill is available)

Skill Description: Description of skill properties, including passive (skills that are activated without you choosing) or active (skills that you must click on in order to use) and skill requirements.

Cool Down: Amount of time before skill can be used again.

Duration: Length of time passive-activation skills will stay active.

Range: Distance at which skill acts in a radius about the player.

Blood Required: This refers to how much blood you must have in your bank for skill to be usable.

Blood Consumed: How much your blood you will lose with one use of skill.

Upgrade Level(s): Level(s) at which skills can be increased.

Skill Groups

Skills have been grouped in three levels for quick access:

Low-level Skills (1-30)

Mid-level Skills (35-70)

High-level Skills (75-100)

vampirismBite (Level 1)

Active Skill: Of all the skills you can gain, Bite is by far your most important.  Biting allow you to draw blood from your current opponent, storing it for use on the skills outlined below.  One point in Bite allows you to draw 1-4 blood, another point will increase that to 2-4 blood, and a third point will give you a 50% chance to draw one extra blood whenever used!

Rend Flesh (Level 1)

Active Skill: With talons hardened from digging yourself out of the grave, you lash out and rip the flesh from your enemy’s bones!  It does a moderate amount of damage based on your level and attack score.  Putting another point in this skill will give you a chance to cause terrible bleeding wounds in your enemy, doing even greater damage over time and a third point will increase this chance to 100%!  Make them bleed.

vampiric_auraDrink Life (Level 1)

Active Skill: Damage while you heal!  By leeching life energy from your enemy, you transfer their own life energy into yours, waxing as they wain.  One point will allow you to do a small amount of damage and regain 80% of that as health.  A second point allows you take in all of your damage as health, with a final point actually allowing you take in more life than damage dealt!

inhuman_precisionInhuman Precision (Level 10)

Passive Skill: Your improved vampire reflexes result in a supernatural ability  to chain critical attacks together, but only assuming you have enough blood in your reservoir!  With one point, a successful critical attack will result in another, immediate critical attack for massive damage.  A second point increases this to TWO extra critical attacks for every one you land; your foes won’t stand a chance!

grandeurMurder Spree (Level 10)

Passive Skill: Each successfully defeated monster feeds your undead bloodlust by increasing your fury and pushing you one step closer to becoming the bloodthirsty killing machine you feel growing within you.  With one point, killing a monster with a small amount of blood in your tank will result in a boost to attack.  With a second point, even the blood cost disappears and the skill will activate with an empty reservoir!  Find yourself beset by a large number of foes?  This skill will help you mow through them like the angel of death.

shadow_danceShadow Dance (Level 25)

Active Skill: Embracing your darkside, descend into a shadowy netherworld to sneak up to your opponent unawares, taking them by surprise with a killing blow!  One point here and you can teleport directly to your foe for an immediate critical attack.  A skill favored by the sneakier denizens of New Valencia.

flay_mindPsychic Spear (Level 30)

Active Skill: If you need a breather, this skill can provide you with one!  Tapping into your prodigious vampire psychic abilities, psychic spear blasts your foe with mental force for moderate damage.  One point gives you a partial chance to knock your enemy back, while a second point will make sure that they get out of your face every time!

Cool Down: 4 seconds;          Range: 15m;          Blood Required: 1;          Blood Consumed: 1;          Upgrade Level: 55

Mid-level Skills (35-70)

seductive_glanceSeductive Glance (Level 35)

Passive Skill: You’ve developed your unearthly beauty to the point that a mere glance gives even the most ardent of attackers pause.  Each time you are hit by an enemy there is a chance that your answering gaze will stun them for a brief period.  An extra point in this skill increases the time that foes stand in awe of your appearance, as well as slightly increasing the chances that the skill will activate. Great for buying a bit of time to use another skill, consume a potion, or flee the scene!

Duration: 8 seconds (12 with 2 points);              Blood Required: 3;            Blood Consumed: 0;              Upgrade Level: 45

screaming_terrorShadow Mirror (Level 35)

Passive Skill: Like a Seductive Glance for the active set, Shadow Mirror turns a foe’s own rage into its undoing as their own attacks are turned against them.  A point here means a chance to reflect a portion of the damage received with each hit.  Another point increases the amount of time Shadow Mirror remains active after it activates and increases the damage reflection to 100%, meaning they’ll get as good as they give!  A great skill for aggressive vamps who don’t mind taking a bit of damage as they tear into their foes.

blood_novaBlood Splatter (Level 50)

Active Skill: Tapping deep into your reservoir of leeched blood, you discharge excess energy in a corrosive shower of sanguine splatter.  With one point, all enemies in an area around the vamp are burned for moderate damage by acidically charged blood.  A second point increases the potency and volume of the spray, giving a small chance to blast enemies away from the player as they are consumed in paroxysms of scalding pain.

glamourGlamour (Level 50)

Active Skill: Increased power allows you active control over the preternatural beauty developed by Seductive Glance.  One look stupefies enemies with infernal power, reducing them all to wide-eyed worshipers for the duration of the skill or until damage snaps them out of their reverie.  Another point and foes over an even larger range will find themselves unable to comprehend the magnitude of your allure, causing them a small amount of damage as their brains unknit over time.

ghost_formMist Form (Level 60)

Passive Skill: Your undead body develops the ability to disincorporate , diffusing itself into a nebulous mist, and allowing you a brief respite from enemy attacks.  When your life drops below 0, instead of dying and needing to revive, you will instead enter a mist state in which you cannot attack or take any damage, but can flee faster than usual or consume healing items.  Be careful though!  Your new body will be too weak to disperse for 10 minutes after each use.  It doesn’t last long, so make it count! If you prefer to hang back and let others do the front line fighting, this is a great skill for when the fight gets a little too close!

essence_graftRigor Mortis (Level 65)

Passive Skill: Coming to terms with your state of undeath results in a skin hardened and conditioned by the grave.  A point here permanently increases your defense and damage absorption.  The skill of choice for those who like to stay on the frontlines and defend weaker comrades.

death_rattleHunger (Level 65)

Passive Skill: Allowing your baser vampire instincts to run rampant, you descend even deeper into darkness and give even more of your soul over to the bloodlust growing within you.  Choosing this skill gives you a permanent boost to attack and critical chance.  Excellent for those who want to hit hard, kill fast, and move on to the next target.

dark_angelDark Angel (Level 65)

Passive Skill: Mastering the demonic voices crying out in your head, you find a small amount of solace in the knowledge that you can use your dark powers for some good.  This skill gives you a permanent increase to life and healing abilities, making it a great choice for those players who want to devote themselves to healing themselves and friends.

High-level Skills (75-100)

spiked_skinBone Shield (Level 75, requires Rigor Mortis)

Active Skill: An unlifetime of accumulated wounds has deepened the insights into self-preservation that you began to uncover with Rigor Mortis.  You draw upon your dark connections to exhume the ossified remains from the very soil of New Valencia, fashioning them into  a damage absorbing skeletal shield..  A second point will double the amount of damage absorbed!

Duration: 8 seconds;             Cool Down: 60 seconds;            Casting Time: 3 seconds;

Blood Required: 5;               Blood Consumed: 5;                Upgrade Level: 80

transfusionDark Sacrifice (Level 75, requires Dark Angel)

Active Skill: Using the newfound peace you have gained through Dark Angel, you find a way to transform blood drawn from enemies into new life for yourself and your friends.  Using this skill will heal you and those around you of a large amount of wounds.  A second point gives you the added ability to increase your friends’ level of energy, giving them each one blood to power their skills.

drain_bloodBlood Nova (Level 75, requires Hunger)

The increased bloodlust you have unleashed with Hunger finds its release in a caustic shower of blood, dealing massive damage to all nearby enemies.  A second point in this skill only increases the damage further, resulting in gouts of blood large enough to give even the most ardent foes pause.

dominateDeathgrip (Level 85, requires Bone Shield)

Active Skill: With the adamantine body you’ve cultivated through Rigor Mortis and Bone Shield, you develop the ability to stun even the toughest of foes through a vicious blow to their most sensitive organs.  This skill staggers your foes so strongly that even continued damage will not knock them out of their stupor.

dark_pactBlood Ritual (Level 85, requires Blood Nova)

Active Skill: The grisly torrents of blood you have been shedding through Blood Spatter and Blood Nova lead you to the gruesome apocalypse of Blood Ritual.  Through unspeakable rituals, this active skill blankets an enormous area of foes in a crimson flood and deals colossal damage to all those who would stand against you.

psychic_spearDark Reward (Level 85, requires Dark Sacrifice)

Active Skill: Drawing upon the spirit of self-abnegation you’ve learned through Dark Angel and Dark Sacrifice, you gain the ability to increase the attack power of your friends at the cost of your own energy.  Using this skill consumes a great deal of blood, but also buffs your friends an equally tremendous amount, allowing them to fight harder and hopefully make it out in one piece!

graveskinGraveskin (Level 90, requires Deathgrip)

Passive Skill: The nigh-invulnerability you have fostered through Rigor Mortis and Bone Shield covers your body in an impenetrable skin as hard as a tomb, but only when you are at your strongest.  A full blood bar triggers this passive skill, allowing you to shrug off all damage for a short time!

blood_freznyBlood Frenzy (Level 90, requires Blood Ritual)

Passive Skill: Your blood-drenched reckoning no longer knows any containment and you find yourself the center of a whirling maelstrom of gore!  A full blood bar results in an uncontrollable explosion, dealing massive damage to all foes over a large area.  It also makes you somewhat less fun to be around at parties.

Cool Down: 180 seconds;          Range: 15m;          Blood Required: 5;          Blood Consumed: 0;          Upgrade Level: none

font_of_unlifeFont of Unlife (Level 90, requires Dark Reward)

Passive Skill: Where Blood Ritual places you at the center of a gory detonation, Font of Unlife allows you to become a soothing font of life to heal the afflicted.  A full bite bar causes you to radiate healing energy, increasing the life of your friends by a moderate amount and making you a welcome addition to any group.
