How to make Jay-Z jealous

You can’t get any sweet loot or jump up the leaderboard if you don’t have any minions! You’ll know you’re ready to add some minions to your list by the glowing green plus sign in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Just go ahead and click on that button to open your minions window. So much to look at! Let’s walk through this list one-by-one to start:

.

minion overview-011. Tasks Button: This is where you’ll manage your minions and tell them what tasks to complete!
2. Tower of Tribute: Here you can choose how to increase your gains by sharing in the rewards your minions acquire!
3. Task and Minion Quickbar: This will tell you your minion level, your number of idle minions, and how long until the next task is finished!
4. Help Column: If you get confused, this column will let you know what to do.
5. Hire Screen: Put your friends to work! Click “+Add” to add them to your minion army. It will let you know above how many minions you can still hire. You’ll gain more slots when you level up so check back after you do.
6. Search Bar: You can have hundreds of minions! Type here to find a specific one quickly.
7. Close Screen: When you’re finished and want to see your minion leaders, click here.
8. Entourage: This will list the minions you have in your entourage. You can click the plus button to add more. If it’s locked, that means you’ll need to gain a level to add more minions.

Screen shot 2010-01-28 at 11.14.19 AM (2)There’s a lot there, but you’ll get the hang of it quickly! Just add as many friends as you can, and then choose your favorite and hit “Promote” to make one of your new minions a leader. Don’t worry! You can always change who the leader is later if you decide you made a mistake. When you get stronger, you’ll be able to have as many as five minions, but right now, you can only handle one.

Screen shot 2010-01-28 at 11.14.48 AM (2)After you promote a new minion, you’ll get a screen that asks you what role you want them to take on. Certain minion tasks will require specific roles, but you can change the role at any time. Just pick one (I went with a brawny bodyguard) by clicking the “Change Role” button of your choice. Once you do, you’ll go to your leaders page.

minion overview2-01What is thy bidding, my master.

You’ll spend most of your minions time here, so it’s worth taking a look at each option one at a time:

1. Tasks Button: This is where you’ll manage your minions and tell them what tasks to complete!
2. Tower of Tribute: Here you can choose how to increase your gains by sharing in the rewards your minions acquire!
3. Task and Minion Quickbar: This will tell you quickly your minion level, your number of idle minions, and how long until the next task is finished!
4. Current Minion: This will tell you the name and role of the minion you click on.
5. Send on Task: The most important button on this screen! This is where you tell your leader to carry out tasks that will win you points, rubies, and items!
6. Change Role: If you decide your bodyguard is really more the concubine type, you can change that here.
7. Demote: If you decide this friend doesn’t have the leadership qualities you are looking for, you can demote them back down to regular minion.
8. Feed Minion: That face will let you know how your minion feels about you. Feed them often to keep them happy!
9. Search Bar: You can have hundreds of minions! Type here to find a specific one quickly.
10. Entourage: This will list the minions you have in your entourage. You can click the plus button to add more. If it’s locked, that means you’ll need to gain a level to add more minions.

Alright, there’s a lot there, but right now we have just one thing to do! Click your new minion leader to select them, and then “Send on Task” to move on!

You are now on the “Tasks” screen. Here, you can scroll through your available tasks to see what your minions can do for you. Right now, you’ve only got two possible tasks, but you also get a sneak preview of the ones you will unlock soon. Clicking on a task will tell you things like what it’s called, how long it takes, how many minions it will require (that one is the little bat!), and possible rewards. Each task will net you a certain amount of minion points to help increase your level, but you might also get some rubies, style, knowledge, or fighting points, and even chances at fabulous items! For now, let’s just pick the first mission available, “Sharpen my Fangs.” It’s only one minute long, and requires only one minion to accomplish. Hit “Do Task” to tell your minion to get out their whetstone. You can check on the progress at any time at the top right of your screen. Screen shot 2010-01-28 at 11.15.46 AM (2)

Screen shot 2010-01-28 at 11.16.40 AM (2)While we wait through one interminably long minute, click on the “Tower of Tribute” button at the top of your screen. There won’t be much to do here, but you’ll see all five of your minions assigned to ranks in the Tower. Each rank allows you to share a cut of your minions’ rewards. Clicking on one of them will allow you to do things like move them up the tower if they’re doing especially well, kick them completely if they’re underperforming, or add more minions to the list if you haven’t filled it out. Also, when you can get your share of the take, the “Collect Rewards” button will light up to let you know it’s time to reap the whirlwind. But, look! Our bodyguard has finished his task! Let’s click back on the “Tasks” clock at the top to see what’s happened.

Our “Send on Task” button is a much more appealing “Collect Rewards” button now! Click on it and let’s see what we get!Screen shot 2010-01-28 at 11.16.57 AM (2)

Score! We’re a little richer, slightly stronger, better able to handle our Entourage, and a bit more stylin’! That is one intense sharpening job! Now all that’s left to do is to start the process again. You’ll get more points, more rubies, and eventually, you’ll gain a minion level! Then you’ll be able to add more minions, choose a new leader and work on two tasks at the same time! It will also unlock the next level of tasks with even greater rewards, so if you want to get seriously awesome stuff, you’re going to have to keep your minions working at all time.

The minion bar in the upper left hand corner of your player window will let you know how the state of your minions at a glance. Keep an eye on it so that you’ll always know exactly when to send them out on another task. A red exclamation point means they’re slacking on the job, so get in there and send them out on a task! A blue clock means they’re working hard at finishing the task you’ve set them on so check back soon. Finally, a green check mark means that minion has finished their task, so click on them, grab your rewards, and send them out again!
